First trailer for Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski’s new movie IF

If the Beverly Hills Cop 4 trailer wasn’t enough of a treat, we now also have the first trailer for John Krasinski’s new movie IF, which you can watch above.

The new movie, starring Ryan Reynolds, was mysterious up until this first trailer release, revealing that the movie is a family offering that revolves around imaginary friends, known as IFs.

It seems it’s up to Reynolds’s character and his daughter, played by The Walking Dead star Cailey Fleming, to find the IFs new friends after their previous ones grew up and don’t need them anymore.

IF was written and directed by Krasinski and is his latest work behind the camera after 2018’s A Quiet Place and sequel A Quiet Place Part II (2020).

Originally announced back in 2019, IF will be released in cinemas on May 24, 2024.

The all-star cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emily Blunt, Awkwafina, Matt Damon, Sam Rockwell, Alan Kim, Bobby Moynihan and Liza Colón-Zayas. The movie has also seen Krasinski will reunite with his The Office US co-star Steve Carell.

In the trailer, we see Shaw and Moynihan, but it’s likely that the other cast members are voicing the various imaginary friends.

Carell previously shared his thoughts on teaming up with Krasinski again, joking that he would make his former co-star’s job as director difficult.

“I’ll put him through his paces, you know? I’ll make him work for it,” he told ET back in June 2022.

“I might be one of those persnickety actors that doesn’t always agree or won’t come out of my trailer. You think you hired somebody that is a friend, but you got that wrong!”

IF is released in cinemas on May 24, 2024.
