New Superman: Legacy fan art sees David Corenswet suit up as the Man of Steel in the upcoming DC Universe. DC Studios is bringing a new era of live-action content as multiple DC Universe movies and TV shows are being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The DC Universe project everyone is paying the most attention to right now is Superman: Legacy, as it will reimagine the last son of Krypton once again on the big screen as the DCU’s first movie.
While Gunn has been debunking various DC Universe rumors, he has been very tight-lipped when it comes to Corenswet’s costume in Superman: Legacy. While the world waits to see the design for Corenswet’s suit, Felipe Illa shared new artwork of what the costume may look like in Superman: Legacy.
Illa’s Superman: Legacy design brings the best of all worlds for Corenswet’s Man of Steel, even including the iconic trunks. However, rather than going with tights or spandex, this Superman costume has a modern vibe to it, similar to how it was designed for Henry Cavill in the DCEU.
Who Is David Corenswet? James Gunn’s Superman Actor Explained
David Corenswet has officially been cast as Clark Kent in the DCU’s Superman: Legacy, leading many to wonder about his career up to this point.
What We Know About Superman: Legacy So Far
Superman: Legacy will be skipping the origin story for this version of the DC icon and instead focus on Clark being early into his superhero journey. Whether it is intentional or not, it is definitely a similar move to Robert Pattinson’s The Batman movie, which followed Bruce Wayne during his second year as a vigilante. Corenswet’s Superman will, according to Gunn, be 30 years old, and already be working at the Daily Planet.
Outside of Corenswet’s Man of Steel, Superman: Legacy will also include a number of iconic DC Comics superheroes in supporting roles, who will help establish Gunn’s mission of having this be a version of the DC Universe where heroes are already established. While Nicholas Hoult is playing Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy, it is unclear if he will be the main villain for the movie, or if there is another foe at large for the film.
According to Gunn, the Superman costume for Superman: Legacy will not be revealed prior to principal photography starting in March.
Given all the secrecy around the new Superman costume, time will tell how they are approaching the uniform in this new DC Universe. Luckily, as Superman: Legacy pre-production continues, the audience is not going to have to wait for too long to see the suit. Hopefully, the day they start filming on location with Corenswet in the suit, DC Studios will have an official Superman: Legacy costume reveal shared with the world.
